PE Dept seeks to widen curriculum offerings
“The long range plan is to really diversify our curriculum offerings in the department for our students. At the same time, we also need to offer a wider variety of physical activities that the faculty, staff and students can get into as part of the UPV Healthy Lifestyle and Wellness Program.”
This was the rationale behind the three-day, API-funded seminar-workshop on physical activity programs that Department of Physical Education, College of Arts and Sciences conducted according to its Chair, Prof. Catherine Anecita.
Held on March 22-24, 2017 at the UPV Miagao campus, the S/W featured lectures, demonstration, and participation of the PE faculty members that included the following: circuit weight training, walking for fitness, running for fitness, aerobics, line dancing, street dance and rhythmic gymnastics.
Prof. Paul Vincent Liboon and Prof. Michiko Aseron, faculty members of the College of Human Kinetics (CHK), UP Diliman, Quezon city, were the resource persons for the activity. Aseron was in charge of dance-based physical education activities such as ballet and ballet for fitness, line dancing, and aerobics. Liboon, however, handled the running and walking for fitness, and circuit weight training.
Also present was Prof. Gilda Uy, Director of the Graduate Program of the CHK who critiqued the s/w proceedings.
Prof. Cristituto Rogador is the lead organizer and facilitator of the event assisted by PE staff Maybelle G. Zulueta. It was participated in by all its faculty members namely: Profs. Brenda Lynn B Arroyo, Ma. Amalia S Delagon, Jocelyn J Pacheco, Fernando S Tinagan and Rhoma Grace F Volcan.
