Phil-LiDAR 1, officially termed as Nationwide Hazard Mapping addresses disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation. The resource information generated from this project is siginificant and useful in providing the information requirements of various sectors in the country.

Phil-Lidar 2, on the other hand, formally known as the Nationwide Detailed Resources Assessment, produced detailed resource maps for various applications: production of high value crops, irrigation assessment, aquaculture production, forest protection, and discovery of renewable energy sources.

Phil-LIDAR 1 and 2 are both DOST - directed researches. One of the objectives of this project is to utilize LiDAR data to complement on-going programs of various government agencies such as the Department of Agriculture, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and the Department of Energy.

UP Visayas being recognized as UP Cebu’s partner for the realization of the Phil-LiDAR projects, organized the Turning Over Ceremony.
